RV sewer hose setup for fit, reach and sanitation

Pick the hose and extension to suit your RV outlet and the hookup at the site, and plan how you will store it clean.

Start with the connection

Look at your RV outlet and the dump station inlet before you buy a hose. Swivel fittings and the common 3 inch connection still need ends that mate with them. Measure the distance at the site, and allow for bends and a little slack.

Keep fresh water and waste apart

Use a sewer hose and its fittings for wastewater and nothing else. Check the hose and seals before each use. Keep it closed up when you travel and when you store it. If a hose is preowned, make sure it has never been used before you think about buying it.

Common questions

What should I check before buying an RV sewer hose?

Look at your RV outlet and the dump station inlet first. Swivel fittings and the common 3 inch connection still need ends that mate with them.

How long should my sewer hose be?

Measure the distance at your site, and allow for bends and a little slack. An extension like the 10 foot Camco Revolution adds reach to a setup you already have.

Is a preowned sewer hose safe to buy?

Only if it has never been used. Make sure of that before you think about buying one. Use sewer gear for wastewater and nothing else.
